Chalk Art Festival - June 9th, 2012!
The Uptown's annual Chalk Art Festival is just
around the corner, and we couldn't be more excited! Last year we were
priveleged enough to have hundreds of talented artists of all ages in
attendance and this year we're looking to add even more.
But perhaps you've never heard of
this wonderful event? Well, the Chalk Art Festival is your opportunity to
come down and make your mark on the Uptown - literally. Once you
register for the event, we provide you with chalk and a sidewalk square, and you
just let your imagination do the rest!
In addition there
are several contests for different themes and age groups that will be
judged on towards the end of the festivities - the winners of which will
recieve some pretty splendid prizes.
You can pre-register for
the event at any of the following locations:
Amber Rose - Cafe Connection
- Octopus'
Garden
We're really looking forward to seeing what everyone
comes up with (c'mon video game art!) and hope to see you in
a few weeks.

Dog Walk 2012 - Thanks for your support!
The
first ever Uptown Dog Walk has come and gone and we're happy to report that it
was a tail-wagging success thanks to everybody who came out and
participated.
Canines of all shapes and sizes converged on the Uptown
Shopping Center on April, 28th to mingle with like minded pooches and pooch
owners. The weather was beautiful, the sun was shining - it was a great
day to be outside with your furry companion.
Another
big thanks goes out to all of the different organizations who came out and
supported the event. We had booths for everything, from pet adoption
and boarding services, to pet photography. Great stuff all
around!
One final big thank you goes to Frank Sr. of Alpha
Computers
for making this
event a reality!

The 1st Uptown Going to the Dogs - Dog Walk: Details, and more!
The innaugural
Richland Uptown Dog Walk is coming up at the end of next month,
and we're happy to be posting some more details on the exciting new
event.
We'd already announced the date and time in our last entry
(Saturday, April 28th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) so now it's time to lay some
ground rules that even Cesar Millan would be proud of.
First thing's
first -- your furry companion must be leashed at ALL TIMES, and under the
control of an adult 18 years or older. No more than 3 dogs per adult
are allowed. If your dog(s) decide to leave any presents
lying around you are responsible for cleaning up after them.
If
you feel like taking your pet shopping with you, you'll need to make sure that
the business you're hoping to enter allows this. We'll be providing
all the businesses with signage informing you weather or not dogs are
welcome, but if you're unsure, please ask a store associate before bringing
them inside.
Because the Uptown is both City Park and Private, both dogs
and their owners are expected to adhere to the Dog Walk Rules,
and the Richland City Dog Code which is outlined in the
dog
walk flyer / information packet here.
We're
really looking forward to hosting this event and seeing you and canine friends
later next month!

In the Spotlight: Fudgies!
It's time for a new business spotlight! Fudgies is a new bakery that specializes in irresistable desserts and treats, but also serves soups and sandwiches for lunch. The dining area is incredibly comfy and inviting, and inspires thoughts of classic American diners.
Recently featured in the Tri-City Herald , owner Cindy Roberts explains, "We buy ingredients, not mixes. We do it the old-fashioned way. That's our slogan: Old-fashioned taste at an old-fashioned price."
Fudgies can be found next to Woo's Teriyaki , on the George Washington Way side of the uptown. They're open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Check out their business page on our site here, and be sure to like them on Facebook!
